VDZ is looking for a European Affairs Officer/Manager

VDZ Verband Deutscher Zeitschriftenverleger (www.vdz.de) represents the business interests of more than 400 magazine publishers and media services operators in Germany. To support our EU affairs activities in Brussels we are recruiting a European Affairs Officer / Manager (depending on qualifications and experience).

Reporting to the Managing Director European Affairs and Media Policy of VDZ and working closely with the European Affairs Department in Berlin, the successful candidate will be required to lead a large variety of complex dossiers at the EU institutions.

The position is permanently based at the offices of the European Magazine Media Association (EMMA / www.magazinemedia.eu) in Brussels.

We expect:

  • A university degree in law
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Thorough knowledge and practical experience in working with EU institutions
  • Good understanding of the press and media business
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English; other languages are an advantage
  • Ability to communicate and co-operate in a small team

Key Tasks:

  • Analysis of legislative proposals and elaboration of position papers in German and English
  • Monitoring of media policy, legal and economic issues at EU level
  • Developing and implementing advocacy and communication strategies
  • Representing VDZ and its members at the EU institutions and at relevant national and European industry bodies
  • Regular reporting to VDZ and VDZ members about relevant EU affairs developments
